Position Description:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow on a fully funded 18-month position with a competitive salary. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Eric Hunter to study occupational voice disorders and vocal health, including the effects on vocal health of behavior, physiology, biomechanics, and environment. The candidate will join a multi-disciplinary group of researchers from a wide variety of fields including Acoustics, Communications, Economics, Engineering, Epidemiology, Health Care, Immersive Technology, Linguistics, Music, Physics, Psychology, Education - and, of course, Communication Sciences & Disorders.
Training will be given in the specific areas of our funded research, along with opportunities to learn important skills like mentoring/teaching, grant writing, scientific dissemination, team development and program management. Our goal is to help you become a successful independent academician.
Candidates will be expected to collect data for the PI's research projects, analyze results, and disseminate scientific findings in research journals and conferences. Further, the candidate will be expected to seek out other opportunities supporting their own research and professional development.

Dr. Hunter's lab is situated in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa. The CSD Department at the UIowa is world renowned for both scientific and clinical expertise-and the people are collegial and supportive. Education Requirement:
- Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or equivalent).
- The candidate must have experience in Voice/Speech research.
- Candidates should have expertise in several of the following: scientific writing, standard statistical analysis techniques, engineering, mathematical modeling, high-speed videoendoscopy of the vocal folds, machine learning, voice and speech recording techniques, speech acoustic analysis, computer programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python, PRAAT).
