Salary Information Department Summary The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society. Our country has an ongoing need to address its crime problems, creating not only new challenges, but opportunities for growth and justness that our Criminal Justice majors can explore and work for. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba. Position Summary The Department of Criminal Justice in the College of Health & Public Service invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track assistant professors for Fall 2024. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate level courses in criminal justice. The candidate(s) selected for these two positions will be expected to engage in high-quality and innovative instruction in both traditional and non-traditional formats and to carry out a productive research agenda. Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in criminal justice or a related discipline from an accredited institution;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service;
  • Evidence showing the ability to establish a strong research record and/or to attract extramural funding.
