Job title: Virtual Services Assistant Company: AMA ESD Job description: The Virtual Services Assistant provides on-site support for students that are receiving special education services/assessment through a virtual platform. The position would travel to various locations across our region to ensure that all technology is operational at the student location, providing support to the special education provider that is working off site. Duties and Responsibilities: The Virtual Services Assistant shall have duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to the following:

• Traveling independently to various locations within the AMA ESD.
• Identifying and setting up a quiet and private area for services at the student site.
• Engaging in regular communication with the special education provider in advance of scheduled activities to ensure services are properly administered.
• Transporting and setting up any necessary technology in advance of each session.
• Logging the student into the provider?s session and starting the camera -- confirming that all audio and video are working.
• Avoiding any assistance to the student beyond situating materials and cameras, unless otherwise guided by the provider.
• Supervising the student and acting as the hands of the examiner.
• Communicating any observed irregularities to the provider.
• Returning any student materials to the provider as directed.
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace through their employment in the district.
• Presence on the job is an employee?s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the Virtual Services Assistant must be able to do the following:

• Physically carry up to 20 pounds of equipment to locations on an intermittent basis.
• Acute vision required or correction including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movements to work on computer and/or related office
• Presence on the job is an employee?s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
• Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace through their employment in the district.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver?s License
• Prior experience in working with children is preferred but not required.
• Coursework in child development is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to independently carry through assigned tasks.
• Must have basic computer knowledge including Internet awareness.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Ability to pass a criminal history check.
