DreamWorks Technology - Software Engineer I
DreamWorks Animation is seeking a software engineer for our Lighting and Look Dev Tools team. The role involves building new tools to facilitate studio-specific workflows, improving pipeline efficiency, and collaborating closely with artists in animated film production.
Responsibilities
- Build new tools to facilitate studio specific workflows and improve pipeline efficiency
- Respond to feedback from artists to improve internal toolsets
- Work with artists to determine problem areas in the pipeline and build solutions
- Improve and maintain existing internal toolsets
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years' experience in software development
- Python and/or C++ software development experience
- Experience with Houdini and other industry standard DCC (digital content creation) tools
- Knowledge of computer graphics concepts and algorithms
- Experience with object-oriented software design
- Experience with UI development using Qt or equivalent UI toolset
- Ability to work closely with end users and engineers
- Attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- Professional experience in a VFX or animation studio
- Experience with USD, Hydra delegates, and its usage in feature production pipelines
- Experience with GPU accelerated graphics and compute methods
- Experience with collaborative software development and source control (such as Git)
- Experience with UNIX/Linux programming environments
