Job description: Summary: Reporting to the Director of the Center for Global Education, the Intensive English Program (IEP) Instructor is a part-time position which will teach 18 hours a week in the Intensive English Program at the pre-collegiate non-credit bearing level; follow university policies related to instruction; attend and participate in departmental and university functions. Experience in teaching English to international students is desirable.
Work Performed: General Program Oversight and Development of curriculum development and review. A minimum of 18 hours of instruction per week in the classroom. Student reviews, and student retention. Leadership of IEP program. Work with IEP administration on new student orientation program, student handbook, attendance, and student disciplinary issues. Identify students in need of tutoring and provide appropriate support services. Plan and coordinate activities to enrich IEP student experience of USA history, culture, relationships, and integration into life at CSU through various experiences (field trips, social activities, peer friends at CSU, etc.). Student testing and placement. Special student requests/problems pertaining to program status. End of session grade reporting, certificates, and faculty evaluation. Review of enrollment/billing status for IEP students and coordinate with CSU service units. Book and reference material ordering and processing. Work closely with the Office of Enrollment Services to determine recruitment goals and on jointly marketing the IEP program.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master?s degree in TESOL or related field and a minimum of three years of teaching experience within the field of the position.
Experience: Prior experience in teaching English to international students is desirable. Must be a proven problem solver and strategic planner, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations, and leadership skills. Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
