Role Summary

The Retail Planning Analyst supports cannabis retail operations by managing inventory, analyzing sales trends, and assisting with merchandising strategies across product categories such as flower, oils, edibles, and concentrates. This role ensures compliance with state cannabis regulations while optimizing product availability and store performance to maximize sales and profitability. The Retail Planning Analyst role will report to and work as the key associate to the Director of Retail Planning.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in replenishment planning for cannabis products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely product delivery and compliance with cannabis regulations.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities across cannabis categories.
  • Achieve designated variance percentages between forecasted and actual sales for cannabis categories.
  • Develop store-level plans that roll up into the overall business strategy, ensuring alignment between bottom-up and top-down planning
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for management.
  • Support promotional activities and seasonal planning in alignment with cannabis marketing standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, inventory adjustments, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor, report and assist in the construction and pursuit of financial budgets and KPI goals
  • Understand the compliant ecosystem of their territories and stay up to date on industry news affecting those territories
  • Maintain KPIs including but not limited to Inventory accuracy, replenishment timelines, sales forecast accuracy, out of stock ratios, promotional execution, data quality, and compliance adherence.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field (preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in retail planning, merchandising, or inventory management (cannabis experience preferred).
  • High level proficiency in MS Excel (shortcuts, writing basic formulas, creating pivots) and retail planning software.
  • Knowledge of state cannabis compliance regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
  • Willing to work in a high-paced, fast-changing environment.
  • Open to pivots, coaching and redirection.
  • Understanding of cannabis retail dynamics and compliance requirements.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a level 1 and level 2 background check
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
  • Occasionally required to move/traverse throughout entire facility, including tight spaces
  • Accurately communicate and exchange sensitive information and ideas with others, including members of the public; observe/inspect details at varying ranges; operate computing devices
  • Occasionally required to manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights (e.g., products, packaging, tools, office machinery): push/pull objects up to 25lbs; lift/carry/position objects up to 25 lbs.; ascend/descend stool/ladder/steps; position self and/or objects at floor level (e.g., crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl)
  • Must have visual and auditory acuity with or without aids to perform all functions of the position.
  • Frequently required to remain in a seated position

Work Schedule

  • 45+ hours weekly with flexible hours and travel as needed. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel up to 20% of work schedule to support the needs of the business.
