Cybersecurity Architect - Clearance Required

About the position LMI is seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to support LMI’s leading-edge, technology-enabled mission. In this fast-paced and matrixed environment, this position will develop cybersecurity requirements and solutions to ensure LMI’s technology meets all our risk and compliance requirements and will communicate our posture to stakeholders and customers. This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance. This position will be mostly on site at the client facility in Arlington, VA with some hybrid remote days at times. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle, including categorization, implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs).
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with NIST SP 800-series guidelines, DoD STIGs, SRGs, and other industry standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure cybersecurity requirements are identified, allocated, implemented, verified, and continuously monitored throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Provide independent cybersecurity guidance to stakeholders, including system engineers, program managers, and Authorizing Officials (or their delegates).
  • Support product teams in achieving and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) or Interim Authorization to Test (IATT), including tracking risk mitigation and providing recommendations on security controls.
  • Escalate issues, risks, or constraints to relevant stakeholders for resolution.
  • Facilitate change management processes and support necessary compliance activities through secure system design, vulnerability remediation, and continuous monitoring protocols.
  • Advise on remediating findings from security scans using DoD and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in system and/or security engineering in a DoD Cybersecurity Enterprise environment.
  • Experience implementing RMF processes and authoring/maintaining RMF documentation (e.g., SSPs, POAMs).
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, standards (NIST SP 800-53 Rev 4/5), and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Experience with systems lifecycle engineering processes and vulnerability mitigation strategies using security scanning tools.
  • Certifications: Intermediate-level DoD 8140 certification (e.g., Security+, CGRC/CAP, or CASP+).
  • Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
  • Onsite Requirement: Must be onsite at the Pentagon 3–5 days per week.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic mission-oriented environments.
  • Familiarity with continuous monitoring tools and dashboard creation for system security controls and compliance logs.
  • Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
