As a Principal Data Scientist within our client-facing data science team, you'll work closely with other members of the Advisory Team and the larger client-facing Data Science team to help our customers improve how they treat their customers and/or employees, and drive better business outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to develop new ways to solve client problems using data science methods, and share your insights with key stakeholders to drive impact.

Key Responsibilities

As a Principal Data Scientist, you'll be responsible for:

  • Answering client business questions using data science methods and tools, and ideating on potential approaches to solve complex problems
  • Delivering actionable and insightful presentations to key customers undergirded by predictive, explanatory, and/or descriptive analyses
  • Building relationships with key clients and internal counterparts, and collaborating with leaders across different functions to develop and execute multidisciplinary solutions
  • Contributing to ongoing improvements in data science methods, tools, visualizations, and ways of working that compellingly provide key insights
  • Collaborating with the Product team to provide real-world scalable client insights that shape the Product roadmap

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A graduate degree in a technical field, such as statistics, data science, analytics, mathematics, or social science
  • 10+ years of experience delivering data-driven insights to stakeholders, with a strong background in data science and analytics
  • 10+ years of experience wrangling data focused on human-centered business problems
  • 4+ years of hands-on coding experience in R
  • A solid understanding of rigorous research methodology, including survey design and experimental design
  • 4+ years of work experience as a client-facing data scientist or analytical consultant
  • Demonstrated history of working successfully with external/internal clients, with strong data science project work and impact
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise, and compelling composition
  • Ability to build trusted, peer relationships with clients, and communicate effectively to both highly academic and business (non-academic) audiences

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be a plus:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Strong understanding of machine learning and deep learning techniques
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
