Overview

The Medication Safety and Quality Improvement Pharmacist serves as a key contributor in advancing medication-use safety and quality outcomes across the pharmacy network. This role focuses on analyzing quality occurrences, supporting error prevention strategies, and collaborating with pharmacy teams to promote best practices in patient safety and operational excellence. The individual in this role will work cross-functionally with leadership and frontline teams to identify risks, implement process improvement initiatives, and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. We’re looking for a PharmD‑trained professional ready to make an impact! If you have 3–5 years of experience in pharmacy practice, medication safety, or quality improvement, we want to hear from you. Bonus points if you hold a CPPS or CPHQ certification — it’s a great way to stand out! Remote - can reside anywhere within the Continental USA. Travel: 10% Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Supports the design and implementation of medication safety and quality improvement initiatives that reduce errors and enhance patient outcomes
  • Conducts medication-use reviews, analyze adverse events and near-misses, and identify system-level improvement opportunities
  • Assists in developing and maintaining safety dashboards, performance metrics, and data tracking tools
  • Partners with pharmacy teams to ensure adherence to standardized safety practices and quality protocols
  • Participates in root cause analyses, document findings, and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Researches and apply national best practices, guidelines, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISMP, CMS)
  • Collaborates with learning and development teams to create and deliver staff education on medication safety principles and error prevention
  • Prepares clear, data-informed reports and presentations to communicate outcomes and recommendations to leadership

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in pharmacy practice, medication safety, or quality improvement.
  • Certification in patient safety or quality improvement (e.g., CPPS, CPHQ) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards relevant to medication-use processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and operational data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement.

  • Percentage of Travel: 0-25%
  • *To perform this role will require frequently sitting, standing, walking, and typing on a keyboard with fingers, and occasionally reaching, and climbing (stairs/ladders). The physical requirements will be the ability to push/pull and lift/carry 1-10 lbs**
