Join arenaxflex – Pioneering Health Equity Through Data‑Driven Insights

At arenaflex, we believe that quality health care should be accessible to every individual, regardless of where they come from or what language they speak. As a leader in public health consultancy, we partner with state agencies, hospitals, and community organizations to transform raw data into actionable strategies that close gaps in care delivery. Our latest initiative focuses on strengthening Rhode Island’s health system capacity to serve newly arrived populations—refugees, asylum seekers, and other immigrant groups. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Data Entry & Health Systems Capacity Analyst to become a catalyst for change, ensuring that data collection, analysis, and reporting are executed with precision, cultural sensitivity, and strategic foresight.

Why This Role Matters

This position sits at the heart of the Health Systems Capacity Project, a grant‑funded effort to map, evaluate, and enhance the ability of Rhode Island health care providers to meet the unique needs of newcomer communities. Your work will directly inform policy recommendations, resource allocation, and program development that impact thousands of lives. By joining arenaflex, you become part of a mission‑driven team that values evidence‑based decision‑making, collaboration, and social impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine an assessment tool that captures provider readiness, service availability, cultural competency, and language access for newcomer populations.
  • Lead outreach efforts to distribute the tool to hospitals, clinics, community health centers, and specialty practices throughout Rhode Island, ensuring a high response rate.
  • Manage the data pipeline by selecting, configuring, and maintaining a secure digital database platform (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics, or a custom arenaflex solution) for real‑time data capture.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including arenaflex project managers, state Department of Human Services (DHS) staff, and external subject‑matter experts, to align data collection with project milestones.
  • Conduct comparative research on national and international assessment methodologies, synthesizing best practices into a locally relevant tool.
  • Perform rigorous data cleaning, validation, and analysis using Microsoft Excel, statistical packages, and visualization tools to identify strengths, gaps, and emerging trends in the health system.
  • Draft comprehensive reports that summarize findings, include evidence‑based recommendations, and support future funding proposals.
  • Present insights to DHS leadership, health system stakeholders, and community partners through clear, data‑driven presentations.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of methodology, data provenance, and project decisions to ensure reproducibility and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Stay current on evolving health policies, refugee resettlement trends, and cultural competency standards to inform ongoing tool enhancements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduate‑level coursework or degree in public health, community health, health services research, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health care challenges faced by culturally diverse and migrating populations.
  • Proven experience conducting research, literature reviews, and data synthesis using academic or professional databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus, WHO repositories).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data visualization) and Microsoft Word for professional reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple concurrent data collection streams.

Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have) Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing health assessment tools or surveys, especially in a public‑sector context.
  • Familiarity with digital data collection platforms (REDCap, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey) and basic database management.
  • Knowledge of Rhode Island health system infrastructure, state health policies, and DHS operations.
  • Background in statistical analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, R, or Python (pandas).
  • Ability to speak or read another language commonly spoken among refugee communities (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Somali).

Core Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Analytical mindset – Ability to translate raw data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Communication excellence – Skilled at drafting concise reports and delivering engaging presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative spirit – Comfortable working across interdisciplinary teams, building trust with external partners, and navigating stakeholder dynamics.
  • Technical agility – Quick learner of new software tools, data platforms, and emerging research methodologies.
  • Cultural sensitivity – Deep respect for the lived experiences of refugees and immigrants, coupled with an ability to incorporate that perspective into data collection.
  • Project management – Proven track record of meeting deadlines, managing timelines, and delivering high‑quality outputs under grant constraints.
