Job Summary

The Provider Data Entry Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of provider demographic and contract affiliation information within our health plan system. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, efficiency in processing incoming requests, and a commitment to optimizing claims adjudication. As a Provider Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving provider information from external sources for system updates and applying your knowledge and experience to validate the provided information
  • Accurately entering and maintaining provider records in our computer system, emphasizing precision and timeliness
  • Conducting regular audits of loaded provider records to ensure both quality and financial accuracy, with documented feedback provided when necessary
  • Supporting system/health plan integration efforts and training existing staff and new hires
  • Assisting in system-related testing activities

Essential Functions

As a Provider Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for the following essential functions:

  • Data Entry and Maintenance: Accurately enter and maintain provider records in our computer system, emphasizing precision and timeliness.
  • Auditing and Quality Control: Conduct regular audits of loaded provider records to ensure both quality and financial accuracy, with documented feedback provided when necessary.
  • System Integration: Support system/health plan integration efforts and train existing staff and new hires.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Assist in system-related testing activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our health plan system.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers, and customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Previous Experience: 1+ years of managed care experience and/or medical office experience with coding or credentialing experience.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers, and customers.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to accurately enter and maintain provider records in our computer system.
  • Confidentiality and HIPAA Compliance: Understanding and compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Reliable Attendance: Maintaining reliable attendance based on the agreed-upon schedule, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Required Education and Experience

To qualify for this role, you must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent GED, and have at least 1+ years of managed care experience and/or medical office experience with coding or credentialing experience.
