Service Technician

Remote role Full-time Open position

Northland Communications Company is dedicated to investing in its employees and promoting a supportive culture. The Service Technician role involves delivering and maintaining high standards of products and services, including troubleshooting, site visits, and customer interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain networking environments (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, QoS, firewalls, POE, VOIP systems)
  • Perform customer site surveys and equipment installs
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve escalated support tickets
  • Collaborate with internal teams on provisioning and MAC work
  • Help customers deploy software/apps to keep services running
  • Maintain documentation and follow departmental SOPs
  • Mentor and train other team members
  • Lead complex incidents and escalations
  • Update internal documentation, knowledge bases, and SOPs
  • Influence process improvements across departments

Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Solid experience with PC/network troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of CAT3/5/6 wiring & standards
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license + reliable transportation
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of VOIP systems, hosted phone platforms
  • Familiarity with firewalls, network equipment, and telecom protocols
  • Industry certs like A+, Network+, or Security+
