Job Summary: The Insurance Adjuster - Specialty Claims is responsible for the full lifecycle management of complex, high-exposure specialty claims. These claims primarily involve elder care facilities, medical negligence, and medical malpractice, requiring expert investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution. This role demands a high degree of technical proficiency, independent decision-making, and the ability to collaborate with professionals across multiple regions.Key Responsibilities:
- Fully manage the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of specialty claims representing the company’s largest damage exposures.
- Handle complex claims originating from multiple states; conduct field investigations and consultations as necessary.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to other Liability Adjusters across the organization.
- Interpret and execute the strategic direction of senior management to improve loss performance.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, state regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain and update detailed claim files, documentation, and reports.
- Engage in collaborative case strategy discussions with underwriting, product management, and legal teams.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision-making authority within established company parameters.
- Promote teamwork and a culture of open, constructive communication.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of professional liability claims experience, with a focus on medical malpractice and elder care facility claims.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Must possess or obtain appropriate state adjuster license(s) and maintain required continuing education credits.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and claims management systems.
- Proven ability to analyze statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to liability claims.
- Demonstrated excellence in negotiation, communication, and decision-making under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities.
- Experienced in developing and implementing claims strategies that balance risk, cost, and customer satisfaction.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with commercial and professional lines insurance products.
- Prior experience mentoring or reviewing work of other adjusters.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across teams and external stakeholders.
