The total rewards package for this role includes a competitive salary.   JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Snowflake Database Engineer is responsible for the design, optimization, and management of data architecture within the Snowflake Data Cloud. Key responsibilities include leveraging Snowflake's unique features—such as Cloning, Data Sharing, and Secure Views—to enhance database performance, security, and reliability. This role requires proficiency in Snowflake SQL, ETL workload support, and query tuning, along with expertise in integrating Snowflake with various data sources and BI tools. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with business partners to address issues, propose optimized solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. The position demands over ten years of infrastructure experience, strong hands-on technical skills, and the ability to manage tasks independently while staying updated on Snowflake best practices. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Snowflake Database Engineer • Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and operation. • Proficient in Snowflake SQL and understanding of its unique features. • Solid understanding of Snowflake features: Cloning, Data Sharing, Secure Views, caching, Warehouse sizes, and scaling. • Experience with Snowflake data loading and unloading processes. • Familiarity with Snowflake's security features and role-based access control. • Knowledge of integrating Snowflake with various data sources and BI tools. • Strong relational database and SQL skills. • Optimize databases' performance, security, and reliability within the Snowflake Data Cloud platform. • Extensive experience in Query Tuning. • Stay up to date on the latest Snowflake features and best practices. • Integrate Snowflake with various data sources and third-party tools. • Troubleshoot issues related to Snowflake implementations. • Experience in supporting/developing ETL workload. • Recommend the Snowflake best practices for management, monitoring, and optimization Collaborate with Business Partners • Thorough working knowledge of all tools and techniques required for area(s) of responsibility. • Address business partner issues professionally and promptly. • Propose solutions that optimize project value. • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences. • Demonstrate strong analytical and diagnostic skills. • Follow through on decisions to achieve intended results. • Execute tasks to completion and optimize resource use. • Translate business processes to technical requirements. • Ability to pivot as business needs change. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • BS in Computer Science or related majors. • 10+ years experience designing, building and supporting large scale infrastructure in production. • Minimum of 5 years building analytics, metrics, scorecards, and data visualization tools using modern visualization tools like Sigma, PowerBI, Tableau, etc. • Expert level understanding of MDM, data housing, and integration concepts. • Experience working on major data management programs for a large-scale organization with multiple lines of business. • Experience with modern cloud data technologies like Snowflake on Azure, AWS, etc. • Experience in operationalizing data governance and data quality. • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems supporting stateful services. • Excellent understanding of operating systems concepts including scheduling, IO subsystem, multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale. • Strong hands-on skills. Can drill deep into the complex system design and implementation when needed.
