Staff Property Accountant

The Staff Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned properties. Responsibilities include month-end close for assigned properties, reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis and assisting property management and accounting department with financial projects as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and applicable income statement accounts to ensure accuracy. Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with variance reports included in monthly reporting package. Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with understanding overall financial performance. Prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations and promptly record any reconciling items. Process debt service, tax, insurance and capital expense payments and ensure/verify payments are made as required Responsible for daily cash management. Reconcile security deposit liability and assets accounts on a monthly basis. Maintain and organize monthly property files with appropriate support documentation. Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Yardi, Entrata, and the internet. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
