This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment and enjoys connecting the numbers to real operational impact. What You'll Do: Core Accounting Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily management for all components of farm operations accounting including AR, AP and GL functions including both the preparation and review of tasks
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and AR collections for farm receivables
  • Lead the month-end close process for farm accounting, ensuring timely and accurate recording of revenues, expenses, accruals, and journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to farm operations, prepaid expenses, inventory, and contracted farmer payments.
  • Prepare and review quarterly Egg Pay rate updates for our lay farms or update as necessary
  • Prepare and review farm cost allocations and support variance analysis against budget and forecast.
  • Assist in the implementation of appropriate internal controls and lead project improvement efforts including assisting the manager in identifying continuous improvement opportunities

Farm Operations Partnership

  • Serve as the farm accounting liaison to Farm Support, Farm Ops, and Supply Chain, ensuring alignment on expense tracking, performance metrics, and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations and FP&A teams to analyze production costs, feed, and flock performance trends.
  • Provide accounting support for new farm onboarding, expansions, and capital improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities to expand cross functional reporting needed in order to improve accuracy and efficiency in farm-related processes.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare schedules and support external audits and internal reviews.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems or process enhancements, particularly within ERP (D365) and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to process documentation and standard operating procedures for the Farm Accounting function.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience required, ideally in manufacturing, agriculture, or CPG environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (D365 experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for Vital Farms’ purpose and commitment to ethical business practices.
  • Travel up to 20–30% to company facilities, manufacturing sites, and cross-functional meetings.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Free eggs and butter (yes, really!), along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
