We hope you’ll join us and see what the smiling pink whale is all about. Overview: We are looking to hire a well-organized, talented and enthusiastic women’s and girl’s designer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for assisting The Design Director/Senior Designer in multiple categories across women’s and girl’s apparel. The Assistant Designer is responsible for participating in all phases of the design development process from initial concept to production. This position contributes to the overall success of Vineyard Vines. This candidate should be proactive in their approach, look for opportunities to improve upon existing structures and find creative ways to utilize best practices. Key Responsibilities:

  • Research trends, tear sheets, patterns, prints, colors, and silhouettes each season
  • Support designer to setup design presentation boards and update boards as changes occur
  • Sketching in Illustrator
  • Strong Illustrator and Photoshop is a must + 3D Design experience is a plus
  • CAD/render sketches with patterns, prints, and color
  • Create, assist, and complete all design handoffs/tech packs
  • Maintain samples, fabric and trim
  • Support day to day of all design functions

What you bring:

  • 1+ years of experience in design
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design
  • Excellent creativity, a high taste level and a strong understanding of the Vineyard Vines aesthetic
  • Innate knowledge of fashion and trends with the ability to focus into the new direction each season
  • Knowledge of cut & sew construction and functionality
  • Strong hand and flat sketching skills
  • Computer skills: Excellent Illustrator and Photoshop skills, Microsoft Excel, a web pdm type program
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to thrive in a face paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team
  • Upbeat, positive attitude
