Job Summary
As a Customer Service Representative - Water Billing at blithequark, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing timely and accurate responses to their inquiries. You will be responsible for handling a wide range of customer interactions, from routine telephone inquiries to data entry and record-keeping. Key Responsibilities
* Respond to routine telephone inquiries from the public and other city departments, providing accurate and timely information on prior service connections, disconnections, transfers, extensions of payment, sewer/water averaging, and billing explanations.
- Enter change of service information into our data system and verify customer details to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain various computer records, including change of address, type of service used, comment files, and non-payment accounts lists.
- Post to simple numerical records and operate a two-way radio to exchange messages and information with colleagues.
- Operate a variety of basic office equipment, including printers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to blithequark's data protection policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to resolve customer issues and provide exceptional service.
Essential Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of at least one course in general office practices or six months of work experience in a related field is preferred.
- Ability to pass a 35 WPM typing test prior to accepting an application or resume.
- Knowledge of general office practice and procedures, including data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret city policies and procedures.
- Valid operator's license with a good driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role, preferably in a government or utility setting.
- Knowledge of water billing systems and procedures.
- Familiarity with basic office software, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
