The Airport Operations Agents, Senior are responsible for maintaining awareness of Airport operational conditions and respond to the needs of the Airport users to ensure the expeditious transition of public movement.The purpose of this class within the organization is to oversee and coordinate resources and implement work procedures to ensure a safe, efficient and secure environment for passengers, airport personnel, vehicles, equipment and the movement of aircraft within established airport policies and procedures.General DescriptionOversees and coordinates resources and implement work procedures to ensure a safe, efficient and secure environment for passengers, airport personnel, vehicles, equipment and the movement of aircraft within established airport policies and procedures.Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.Minimum Education And Experience RequirementsRequires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in airport management, aeronautical science or closely related field.(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)Requires three (3) years experience in airport operations or closely related experience.Special Certifications and Licenses
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license during employment and maintain authority to drive on County business.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal.
- All Aviation Department employees must possess the ability to interact courteously with the public, Airport vendors, contractors and fellow employees to maintain a professional work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes a positive work environment.
- In addition to the responsibilities listed in the Classification Description, Airport Operations Agents, Senior are responsible for maintaining awareness of Airport operational conditions and respond to the needs of the Airport users to ensure the expeditious transition of public movement.
- The incumbent must possess knowledge of the following listed below:
- Acts as lead-worker, maintains awareness of and evaluates operational conditions and responds to the needs of the airport users to ensure the expeditious transition of public movement.
- Ensures compliance of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Security Program, assists with the evaluation of facility and tenant security programs, and all other security programs and policies required by law.
- Coordinates and conducts inspections of airport property through testing and observation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Issues notices of violations and/or citations for non-compliance with airport rules and regulations, Chapter 2, and 8 ½ of the Broward County Code of Ordinances.
- Assists in the updating of related documents to maintain compliance with current rules and regulations.
- Ensures adherence of security procedures and policies by Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport contract security personnel.
- Represents the airport at meetings and activities involving airport safety and security service and issues.
- Assist airport tenants as appropriate in meeting established local, state and federal security requirements. May serve as a liaison with the Transportation Security Administration, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), U.S. Customs and Border
- Protection, and other local governmental, law enforcement, safety and security agencies regarding airport security issues as required.
- Coordinates and conducts security-related training for all airport employees requiring access to secure areas of the airport complex.
- Responds to airport emergencies in an Incident Command environment and interacts and coordinates with command level personnel to maintain the Security compliance of the airport.
- May act in the capacity of the Airport Security Coordinator (ASC).
