Opportunity Overview

DeVry University is seeking industry professionals with a Master's degree to share their knowledge and experience as an Adjunct Faculty member. As an Online Visiting Professor, you will teach day, evening, and/or Saturday practitioner-based programs in various instructional areas. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate student learning by delivering educational courses and programs in accordance with DeVry University requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As an Online Visiting Professor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and providing students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizing, preparing, and regularly revising and updating all course materials.
  • Using appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Modeling effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Setting clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensuring that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrating consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and providing timely feedback to students.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree is required/Doctoral degree preferred (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching).
  • CPA, CFA, or CMA highly preferred.
  • Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Administration, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation.
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
  • Faculty must also have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups.

Compensation and Benefits

Visiting Professor pay is based on degree, credit hours taught per 8-week session, and location. Pay may vary in most states from $1500-$2600 per 8-week session. Pay in the states of AZ, CA, IN, and PA is paid at an hourly rate of either $20.00/hour or $21.50/hour. DeVry University offers competitive wages and benefit options, including:
