Key Responsibilities
As an Experienced Part-Time Cook/Cashier, you will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation and Service: Prepare and serve meals to students and staff during meal periods, ensuring that all meals meet USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations.
- Cashiering: Operate computerized point-of-sale software to manage meal transactions, monitor meals for compliance with federal regulations, and assist with the maintenance of meal accounts.
- Set-up and Clean-up: Assist with set-up and clean-up procedures related to the meal service operation, including inventory management and maintenance of equipment.
- Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other school staff in the preparation of foods used in district-wide menus and special function activities.
- Professional Development: Participate in Nutrition Services professional development activities as scheduled to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED): You must have a high school diploma or equivalent to apply for this position.
- Ability to Follow Instructions: You must be able to follow oral and written instructions to ensure that all meals meet USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations.
- Physical Demands: You must be able to safely lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
- Basic Math Skills: You must have basic math skills, including computer applications experience.
- Certification with the School Nutrition Association: You must obtain certification with the School Nutrition Association at Level 1 within one year from date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience in Food Service: Previous experience in food service, particularly in a school setting, is highly desirable.
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills are essential for this role, as you will be interacting with students and staff on a daily basis.
