Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Dental Assistant Instructor to join our team in Portland, OR. As a Dental Assistant Instructor, you will be responsible for providing active and effective learning experiences for students in all applicable educational settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical, and online environments. Your primary goal will be to ensure that students receive the highest quality education and training, preparing them for successful careers as dental assistants. Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct classes as assigned, preparing lesson plans and course materials to ensure effective learning experiences for students
  • Objectively assess students' academic performance, providing regular and constructive feedback to help them achieve their full potential
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting the example and being a role model for professionalism and conduct
  • Proactively inform the Program Director of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns, ensuring timely intervention and support
  • Ensure compliance with the published attendance policy, including recording and posting daily attendance and grades
  • Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring and monitoring student participation and progress
  • Refer students to the Program Director and/or Academic Dean if additional advising is necessary, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of related practical work experience in the occupational field associated with the training provided (ACCSC)
  • Current RDA license
  • Current CPR card
  • Strong knowledge of dental assisting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., dental hygiene, education, or healthcare administration)
  • Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring in a dental or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, priorities, and deadlines

  • Teaching and mentoring skills: ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences, providing individualized support and feedback to students
