About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Child Welfare Supervisor 2 to join our team in Enterprise, Oregon. As a Child Welfare Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on Oregonians in need of support and resources. You will work collaboratively with a diverse team to provide leadership, guidance, and support to caseworkers and other staff members. Your expertise and experience will help us achieve our vision of creating a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observing, coaching, and engaging caseworkers to achieve best practices and positively engage client families
  • Providing case consultation and individual tutoring for developing case plans, placement decisions, child protective services, and treatment interventions
  • Assigning duties and/or cases to social service specialists and ensuring backup coverage
  • Ensuring that cases are opened and closed in accordance with policy and deadlines
  • Planning, monitoring, and evaluating staff activities
  • Helping new employees understand their roles, helping staff complete critical casework functions, and assisting senior-level workers with their career planning
  • Eliciting input from staff to ensure the adoption of new practices
  • Developing clear expectations for staff and completing annual performance reviews
  • Fostering a stable and consistent environment for staff
  • Researching and interpreting policy
  • Reviewing client case plans and other documents for quality
  • Evaluating board and court hearing processes to ensure they are appropriately conducted and timely
  • Auditing and reviewing case files
  • Completing general personnel actions such as hiring and approving leave requests

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's or higher degree in social work/human services, or a related field
  • Two years of direct experience working for a protective services agency (providing protective services to children, adults, families, seniors, and/or people with disabilities) as a caseworker
  • OR a bachelor's degree in a field not closely related AND two years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work of human services related experience
  • Knowledge of ODHS Child Welfare's Vision for Transformation and experience implementing organizational objectives
  • Skill in utilizing informed practices that are inclusive of the child and family's language, race, and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize, engage, and build collaborative relationships with community partners and people
  • Specific training or application of process improvement, quality improvement, and/or change management
  • Dedication to becoming trauma-informed, anti-racist, and accessible to all regardless of identity

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience developing and managing a case load or case plan related to safety practice models
  • Experience utilizing a trauma-informed lens to supervise and manage a work unit, including hiring, training employees, assigning, and reviewing work
  • Experience providing oversight of operations and managing staff performance
