About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Riverdale, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom and make a positive impact on the lives of your students.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of subjects and grade levels, including elementary, middle, and high school
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of your students
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
• Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced educational setting
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A NJ Substitute Credential
• A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with educational technology and software

We offer a competitive compensation package, including:

• Up to $190 for day-to-day assignments, and more for long-term assignments
• Weekly pay and no fussing with taxes (you'll be a W-2 employee)
