About the Role

As the Chief of Field and Department Tasks, you will be responsible for driving the global strategy, planning, and execution of all live field and remote production events, agency operations, and field technology for ABC News. This is a highly collaborative role that requires working closely with key internal and external partners to set the strategic direction for complex field coverage and various departmental production needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for field teams to meet the unique requirements of shows and platforms within the ABC News portfolio.
• Foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment and act as a culture change agent.
• Oversee and prioritize capital budgets for all field and authorities.
• Lead the research, testing, and development of field technologies for use in breaking news and planned events.
• Oversee expertise across multiple geographical regions.
• Anticipate the needs of a dynamic news operation and execute innovative, timely solutions.
• Provide 24/7 preparation to respond to breaking news anywhere in the world.
• Travel occasionally based on business and production needs.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience in live news production, field and remote production, and management of a large team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in interacting with technical and non-technical leadership.
• Schedule flexibility around the 24/7 patterns of media reporting.
• Ability to manage teams across time zones.
• Strong industry contacts across media/production technology/systems, vendors, and industry associations.
• Experience working with Labor Relations, HR, and Finance colleagues on complex matters.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out as a candidate, you will ideally have:

• Experience in the full field remote technology and operations workflows, including transmission, audio/video signal stream, radio, IP-based production systems, and overt redundancy.
• Adaptability and willingness to adapt to impromptu demands and events.
• Working knowledge of the U.S. network pool in Washington, DC.
• Ability to develop and present technical strategies to various audiences, including ABC platforms, leaders, partners, and staff.
