Experienced Full Stack Data Engineer – Information Ventures with Walmart

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our Information Ventures team at Walmart. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines that power our retail data science capabilities. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven solutions that drive business growth and improve customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Integration and Transformation: Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines that integrate data from various sources. Develop and implement data transformation and processing logic to convert raw data into usable data assets.
• Data Source Identification: Identify and evaluate data sources to support business requirements. Perform initial data quality checks on extracted data to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Data Modeling: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business requirements. Design and implement data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.
• Code Development and Testing: Write high-quality code to develop and implement data-driven solutions. Develop and execute testing plans to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Applied Business Intuition: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop data-driven solutions that meet those needs.
• Data Governance: Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members. Develop and maintain technical documentation and playbooks.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related field.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with data engineering tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
• Experience with data governance and data quality tools.
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts.
• Strong understanding of business acumen and industry trends.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 per year. Our benefits package includes 401(k) matching, stock purchase plans, paid maternity and parental leave, PTO, and various health plans.
