Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs designed to meet the unique and individual needs of visually impaired infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. You will work closely with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure that students receive the support and services they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and individualized family services plans (IFSPs) that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to visually impaired infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, using a variety of teaching methods and materials
  • Identify, utilize, and evaluate instructional materials designed for use with visually impaired students
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and services
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and research in the field of visual impairment

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
  • Valid teaching certificate or the ability to obtain a valid teaching certificate
  • Experience working with children with visual impairments
  • Strong knowledge of instructional methods and materials for visually impaired students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field of study
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in the field of visual impairment and/or birth through kindergarten
  • North Carolina Infant-Toddler Specialist certification
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers

Compensation and Benefits
