Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Require Learning Program (MLP) Teaching Assistant to provide support to K-2 students with diverse needs. As an integral member of our team, you will collaborate with teachers, assist with instructional materials, and work with individuals and small groups to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Your primary goal will be to improve educational outcomes for students and provide support within a general education classroom, enabling all students to become active participants in the learning process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers regarding student progress, interest levels, and challenges
  • Assist with the development, production, and organization of instructional materials
  • Work with individuals and small groups at the teacher's request to provide targeted support
  • Check student assignments, monitor testing and makeup work, and organize class work and homework
  • Administer and score student curriculum-based measurement (CBM) assessments for RtI purposes
  • Assist with various tasks such as door duty, hall duty, and recess duty
  • Participate in in-service training programs as assigned to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Assist in behavior management under the direction of the teacher and team, implementing specific behavior intervention strategies as directed
  • Utilize confidential and personal information concerning students and staff for professional purposes only, and in accordance with district procedures
  • Assist with self-care needs of students as necessary, including feeding, mealtime, toileting, and hygiene needs
  • Assist with student's mobility around the school environment, including lifting, transferring, and physically assisting students
  • Provide any assistance needed for successful participation in specials (i.e., art, PE, music, etc.)
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • A ParaProfessional Statement of Approval issued by the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs in an educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum-based measurement (CBM) assessments
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and techniques
  • Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, and other disabilities
