Job Summary

As a Hybrid Chemistry & Physics Teacher, you will work primarily in a virtual setting, collaborating with other team members, scholars, and learning coaches. You will be required to participate in in-person activities, including testing, check and connect sessions, field trips, in-person tutoring, and professional development. Your expertise will help create a virtual classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning, providing daily instruction, designing lessons, and assessing student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a virtual classroom culture that fosters students' intellectual, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments that align to Friendship's curriculum and standards.
  • Incorporate creative, hands-on learning experiences that broaden students' exposure and interests, foster student ingenuity, and require application of knowledge and skills acquired through daily instruction.
  • Maintain a visually appealing classroom environment, rich with resources aligned to curriculum and standards, and honor students' achievements with current and accurate displays of exemplary student work.
  • Communicate regularly with students to understand their talents, interests, and needs, and convey learning expectations and progress toward meeting those expectations.
  • Collaborate with school-based staff and throughout the Friendship network in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance students' learning experience and increase student achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with families to identify students' talents, interests, and needs, and update parents regarding students' achievements and progress.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of the Praxis II Exam.
  • One year of teaching experience with results demonstrating high student achievement and significant growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in subject area.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and/or continuing education.
  • Two years of teaching experience with results demonstrating high student achievement and significant growth.
