We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our client, a US-based law firm. This remote position requires an individual with substantial knowledge and expertise in criminal defense law who can assist attorneys in managing a diverse range of cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing case files and conducting in-depth legal research.
• Draft a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and client correspondence pertaining to criminal defense matters.
• Review and summarize evidence, including police reports and witness statements, to support case strategies.
• Maintain an organized case management system, ensuring all documentation is properly filed and accessible.
• Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and experts to streamline case progress.
• Support attorneys in trial preparations by coordinating exhibits and organizing materials.
• Conduct legal research as needed to aid in case development and strategic planning.
• Assist with administrative tasks including billing and case management duties when required.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience within a legal setting.
• 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on criminal defense being highly desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding of criminal law and pertinent legal principles.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Familiarity with US criminal law on both state and federal levels.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a law office or legal environment.
• Solid writing and drafting skills.
• Experience with CLIO Manage software is a plus.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with case management software is an advantage.
