About the Role
As a Data Scientist on our team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of Disney Streaming's suite of streaming video apps, including Disney+. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative machine learning solutions that enhance user experiences and drive business growth. Key Responsibilities
- Algorithm Development and Maintenance: Design and implement cutting-edge machine learning algorithms for personalization, recommendation, and predictive systems. Maintain and optimize existing algorithms deployed to production, ensuring seamless integration with our products.
- Analysis and Algorithm Optimization: Conduct in-depth analysis of app interactions and user profiles to inform algorithm improvements and drive key personalization metrics.
- Data Preparation: Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for model building, experimentation evaluation, and algorithm performance.
- MVP Development: Develop innovative data science products to support new production features or downstream production algorithms.
- Development Best Practices: Establish and maintain algorithm development, testing, and deployment standards, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Identify new personalization opportunities and work with product and business stakeholders to improve data collection, experimentation, and analysis.
Essential Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience developing machine learning models and performing data analysis with Python or R.
- 3+ years of experience writing production-level, scalable code (e.g., Python, Scala).
- 3+ years of experience developing algorithms for deployment to production systems.
- In-depth understanding of modern machine learning methods, models, and their mathematical underpinnings.
- Familiarity with cloud services in a production environment, particularly AWS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with natural language processing techniques and contextualized word embedding models.
- Familiarity with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or Chartio.
- Understanding of statistical concepts, such as hypothesis testing and regression analysis.
- Ability to gauge the complexity of machine learning problems and execute simple approaches for quick, effective solutions.
