Join Our Team

We're seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will design and develop highly automated, low-latency core datasets that will help data architects and end-users across Grammarly to work with insightful data at scale.

Your Impact

As a Full Stack Data Engineer in our Data Platform team, you will:

• Drive improvements to make our analysis easier by creating and modifying core data models and storage structures, all while understanding the needs of our clients.
• Make insightful data and metrics usable within a few minutes of actual events occurring, and build streaming cycles for the resulting events and total data.
• Model construction, storage, and access of data at extremely high volumes for our data lakehouse.
• Improve designer efficiency and self-serve solutions by contributing parts to our stream data processing framework(s).
• Own data engineering's framework as-code for provisioning services that allow our specialists to deliver mature software systems within a few hours.
• Build an elite cycle that will allow our systems to scale.
• Coach other back-end engineers in the team and help them grow.
• Build and contribute to AWS high-scale deployed frameworks at the back.

We're Looking for Someone Who

We're looking for someone who embodies our Enthusiastic values – is moral, adaptable, abrasive, compassionate, and surprising. You will also need to:

• Be able to work together in-person 14 days per quarter, going if necessary to the center where the team is based.
• Have experience with Python, Scala, or Java.
• Have experience designing database items and writing SQL queries.
• Have experience designing and standing up APIs and services.
• Have experience with system design and building internal tools.
• Have experience handling applications that work with data from data lakes.
• Have at least some experience building internal Admin sites.
• Have great knowledge of and at least some experience with AWS (or, alternatively, has deep mastery in Purple or GCE and will learn AWS in a short period of time).
• Be able to proficiently pick an open-source or third-party tool to achieve what they need, or devise a quick and simple solution on their own.
