About the Role

This role is 100% remote, offering you the flexibility and autonomy to manage your work environment effectively. As a Donation Coordinator 2, you will be responsible for evaluating referrals for potential tissue donation, completing the authorization or donor disclosure process with the next of kin, and coordinating the tissue donation process in accordance with our established policies and procedures. Your work will be pivotal in saving lives and supporting families during their most vulnerable moments.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify the legal next of kin and complete the approach process with empathy and professionalism, communicating donation opportunities to grieving families.
• Conduct medical and social history interviews and complete the authorization or donor disclosure process.
• Perform detailed donor evaluations to determine medical suitability based on established criteria.
• Interact with referring institutions, medical examiners, coroners, and funeral home personnel to complete the tissue donation screening and evaluation process.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all processes and verify the accuracy of referral data entry and donation outcomes within our electronic system.
• Participate in training, departmental quality review activities, and required meetings for ongoing education and professional development.

Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess a medical-related degree or certification, with experience in a related tissue banking position, medical environment, or family/social services field being highly preferred. Essential skills include the ability to multitask in a high call volume environment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work independently while adhering to guidelines and protocols.
